BUTLER, William H.
Farmer; Sec. 20; P. O. Lynnville; owns 120 acres of land, valued at $4,000; was born in Montgomery Co., Indiana, Oct. 10, 1836; emigrated to this county in the Spring of 1855, settling in this township; moved to his present farm in 1868. Married Mary N. WHITE in this township, January 13, 1859; she was born in Rush Co., Indiana; their children are Elgar, P. Leroy, Elme E. (deceased), Carrie A. and Murlen L. Is a Republican, and a member of the Society of Friends. His father, Lemuel BUTLER, came here in 1855, and entered the land on which William H. and his brother now live, and built a house-at that time the only one for many miles on the prairie; he remained till the Fall of 1859, and returned to Indiana, where he was killed July 4, 1872, aged 65 years. ~ "Lynn Grove Township Biographies," The History of Jasper County, Iowa, (Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1878)
