CASTER, S. W.
Farmer; Sec. 24; P. O. Lynnville; owns 240 acres of land, valued at $12,000; born in Montgomery Co., Indiana, June 20, 1829; emigrated to this county in 1853, arriving October 7, and settling where he now lives. Married Rebecca A. WATHERS August 12, 1850, in Montgomery Co., Indiana; she is a native of that State; their children are Isabella, now Mrs. TAYLOR; Alice, now Mrs. LUDWICK; Jenizie, Elizabeth, John, Charles, George, Alfred and Fred. Mr. CASTER is one of the representative men of this township; has filled the office of Township Trustee six years, also Township Treasurer, and is now President of the School Board, besides having filled a number of other offices of trust. When Mr. C. first came to this spot it was a wild prairie; the cabin which he first built required nearly all the men for ten miles around to help raise, so sparse was the population; it has now given place to a large and Commodious frame dwelling, a substantial barn and numerous outbuildings; for the last sixteen years he has been quite extensively engaged in the stock business, for a number of years shipping from $6,000 to $8,000 worth annually. He is politically a Republican, and a member of the M. E. Church. ~ "Lynn Grove Township Biographies," The History of Jasper County, Iowa, (Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1878)
