CUNNINGHAM, Joseph
Proprietor of boot and shoe shop, Monroe. He was born in Rappahannock Co, VA in 1842. While he was a boy, his parents moved to OH where he remained until the breaking out of the war of the rebellion. He enlisted in co. C, 22nd Ohio V. I. He served three months, and at the expiration of that time he re-enlisted in co. H., 73rd Ohio V. I., served in that regiment until 3 Mar 1865. He was then promoted Captain of Co. D, 188th Ohio V. I. He was in the battles of Morefield, Winchester, Cedar Mountain, Second Bull Run, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, New Baltimore, Gettysburg, Chattanooga, Lookout Mountain, Atlanta and a series of battles around that place. After discharge he returned to OH remaining there until January 1866. He married Miss Fannie BAIN in this county in 1867. They have four children-- Charley B., A. Blanche, Ralph A. and Archie N.
