HIGLEY, Frank H.; Merchant and Postmaster; Dealer in drugs, medicines, hardware, groceries and agricultural implements, Clyde; born in Portage Co., Ohio, May 9, 1852; he moved to Michigan, lived in Lenawee and Shiawassee Cos.; thence moved to Iowa in 1866. Followed clerking principally until he opened a store in Clyde in 1874, and married Agnes TAYLOR in Iowa in 1875. She was born in Indiana Feb. 16, 1856. They have two children - Lew Otis, born Jan. 11, 1876, and Taylor, born April 24, 1878. Since his commencement in business he has built a large store and has a good stock of goods; owns a house and lot, his store and stock. Is a member of the A., F. & A. M. Lodge at Newton, and Chapter No. 12, Newton. Republican. ~ "The History of Jasper County" (Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1878), 601.
