HUNT, M.; Hotel and Carpenter and Builder, Clyde; born in Grafton Co., N. H., April 12, 1827; moved to Pennsylvania and learned the carpenter trade and followed it six years, and moved to New York; remained one year and thence to Ohio; remained a year, building railroad bridges, and thence to Story Co., Iowa, in 1856, and thence to Jasper Co. in March 1878. He married Catherine McLAIN in Story Co., Iowa in 1858. She was born in Pennsylvania in 1834. They have two children - Effa, born Jan. 31, 1860, and Ada, born Feb. ]5*, 1865, born in Iowa. He has a hotel in Clyde, and forty acres of land adjoining the village and eighteen village lots, an orchard and well improved farm, valued at $50 per acre. They are members of the M. E. Church, and he is a Democrat. Mr. HUNT keeps a well regulated hotel with most agreeable accommodations. ~ "The History of Jasper County" (Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1878), 601.
