Greetings to all.
Hi there, my name is Michael Altfillisch. My great-grandfather Michael Altfillisch emigrated to Bellevue, IA in 1856. His older brother John Altfilisch preceded him ( he spelled his name differently ). John arrived in Galena, IL in 1852. He made it to Bellevue, IA in 1854. By 1856 he was in Maquoketa. John was married twice. One of his older daughters was Minnie. She married a Freeman S. Chrysler. Both Minnie and Freeman are buried in Maquoketa. You can find their graves in the Iowa GenWeb grave photos. One of the daughters, Leita, married a Ralph B. McDonald. Both of them are buried in Sacred Heart. Leita was born in Jackson County August 27, 1900 and died August 5, 2001. You can go online and find a perfunctory obituary at the Quad City Times. Leita was born in the last year of the Nineteenth Century and died in the first year of the Twenty First Century. Her lifespan crossed three centuries. WAs there an obituary for her in the Maquoketa newspaper ? I found nothing in the Dubuque paper. She died in Norridge, IL, a suburb of Chicago
