I am researching the Hartman family who predominately lived in Des Moines county, Iowa. However, one great-uncle moved his family to South Fork Twp., Jackson county in early 1880 and 3 children were born in Jackson county. Their names are Fred, b:1880; Edna, b:1882 and Jesse, b: 1885. Joseph was a stone mason by trade and I am wondering if he moved for work up there at the time. Does anyone have knowledge of what work might have been available at the time for a stone mason?
