In the 1925 census for Nashua, Chickasaw Co., Iowa, there is a Hattie Jenness, wife of George, who lists her mother as Cora Baldwin. Hattie is the same age and birthplace as Bessie. In that era, women frequently went by a different first name, or nickname, after marriage. Or the census taker may have been a little deaf. It is a long shot, but worth checking out. She gives her father's name as Valentine Banner, which is a very odd name. If she was a child of divorce, as it looks like, perhaps she didn't know her father's real name or tried to hide it.
