On 06/12/63 James Dale wrote from Maquoketa to his son, Frank Dale, Company C, 21st Iowa Infantry, who was then on the siege line at Vicksburg. James was seriously ill and hoped to see his son one last time. On 07/02/63 Frank was granted leave. Hopefully he made it home before his father died. I'm seeking information about James and Frank (families, deaths, obituaries, etc.)
