Dear people of Jackson County /Iowa,
my name is Thorsten Schulz, son of Marga Schulz (birth-name: Davids) from Rosenow in Mecklenburg, Germany. (about 100 kilometers north of Berlin)
Yesterday my mother sent me the copy of the "Johann Davids" family tree.
It was published by Curt Davids in 1938 and completed in 1958.
Up to this days the book slept under roofs and in forgotten boxes.
Now it woke up a great enthusiasm in me to know where my roots are.
I can follow them now to the 9th generation before me - up to the 1660'sI found that my grand, grand, grand-father Eduard Davids had a 2 years older brother called Wilhelm Davids. The grandson of Wilhelm, his name is also Wilhelm, immegrated to the USA in 1902.
On the 29th of March in 1902 he arrived Ellis Island, New York with the age of 16 years.
He travelled by the Hapag-Liner "SS Patricia", departure: Hamburg, Germany. The only information the author had in 1938 are the following:
Wilhelm Davids
born: 1886 in Burg on the island of Fehmarn
married with: wife unknown
he immegrated to the USA, where he lives in Miles in the state of Iowa.
his wife is already dead in 1938
profession: farmer and horse-dealer
children: (we think 6)
Anna
Friedrich
Georg
Donald
girl, unknown
girl, unknownHere the thread tears off.....
Could someone help me to find out what has happened with Wilhelm and his family since 1902.
Who knows something about his children, grandchildren and further relatives?
There might be some "Davids" or women born as "Davids" or other descendants who also like to know their roots.
Please help me and them to fix a new branch on our family tree.
To get a contact to some far relatives will be a great pleasure for me!With good hope, "Grüßen aus der alten Heimat" and
regards
Thorsten Schulz
