Wilbert G. Robinson

MILES — Wilbert G. Robinson, 93, of Miles, died Thursday at the Mill Valley Nursing Home, Bellevue.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston. The Rev. Gregory Geier will be officiating. Burial will be in the Miles City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. The Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston, is in charge of arrangements.

He was born June 22, 1912, to Dearborn David and Albertha Jean Mangler Robinson in rural Miles. He married Helen Ann Ostert on Aug. 15, 1934. He then married Mary Alice Winchip on March 14, 1964. She died in 2004.

He owned and operated Robinson’s Excavating. He farmed most of his life before retiring in 1984.

Memberships include Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, Monticello. He was active in his church and was a former member of the church council.

Survivors include two half sisters, Mrs. Sue (David) Hammond of Sophia, N.C., and Mrs. Lula (William) Thompson of Yucca, Ariz.; three half brothers, Rance (Karen) Robinson of Clute, Texas, Wayne “Sam” (Rita) Robinson of Miles and Richard (Patricia) Robinson of Goose Lake; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Jackson County Historical Society, Box 1245, Maquoketa, IA 52060 in his name.

He was preceded in death by his two wives, one brother, one half brother and one cousin.
