Vera L. Pavlista

MAQUOKETA — Vera L. Pavlista, 89, of Maquoketa, died Monday at the Crestridge Nursing Home, Maquoketa.

There will be a celebration of her life at 11 a.m. Friday at the Carson and Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa, with the Rev. Ruth Ann Scott officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa.

She was born June 8, 1916, in Fulton, Iowa, to David and Tressa Largant Elkins. She married Adolph V. Pavlista on March 9, 1939, in Oxford Junction. He died in 1991.

She was a 1933 graduate of Monmouth, Iowa, High School.

She was employed with Maquoketa Web Printing in the mail department for 26 years before retiring in 1975.

Survivors include her children, Mrs. Phylis (Leon) Lange of Onslow, Mrs. Karen (Verlon) Huston of Delhi and Carol Jenkin of Clinton; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A Vera L. Pavlista Memorial Fund has been established.

She was preceded death by her parents, husband, one sister and one great-grandchild.
