ROBERT A. POOLE

Robert A. Poole, 58, of Maquoketa, died Jan. 7 at his home.

Public graveside services and burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa. There will be no visitation. The Carson and Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa, is in charge of the arrangements.

He was born May 12, 1947, in Clinton to Earl C. and Lucille A. Jenkins Poole.

He was a 1965 graduate of Maquoketa High School. He graduated from Kirkwood Community College with an associate’s degree. In 1991, he received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from St. Ambrose University.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged.

He worked as a machinist with Caterpillar and later as a corrections officer with the state of Iowa for nine years; four years in Davenport and five years in Dubuque.

Survivors include one son, William “Bill” Skoff of Encinitas, Calif.; and one brother, Carl (Martha) Poole of LaMont.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
