Irene C. Beeck

BELLEVUE — Irene C. Beeck, 89, of the Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue and formerly of Spragueville and Maquoketa, died Tuesday at the Mill Valley Care Center, Bellevue.

There will be a celebration of her life at 11 a.m. Saturday at Salem Lutheran Church, Spragueville. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Carson and Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 9, 1916, in Jackson County to Herman and Frieda Hauser Straub. She married Albert Beeck on Dec. 1, 1938, in Spragueville. He died in 1974.

She graduated from Maquoketa High School and then attended Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls. Prior to her marriage, she taught in rural country schools in Jackson County. She also was a homemaker and farmed with her husband east of Maquoketa for many years.

She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Spragueville, and 4-H leader.

Survivors include her children, Mrs. Shirley (Ken) Shover of Anamosa, Steven (Jana) Beeck of Franklin, Wis., Robert (Shelly) Beeck of Lost Nation and Mrs. Susan (Mark) Hildebrand of Koehler, Wis.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Salem Lutheran Church, Spragueville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, three sisters and one daughter.
