A Sad Death
Caroline James
Another home was made desolate and six little children left without a mothers protection on Tuesday afternoon. The death of Caroline James which occurred at her home in lowa Township. She had been ill for some time, death finally resulting from diphtheria. Deceased was about thirty years old and a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius and Fredricka Flor Yappen and besides her children, she leaves a brother and a sister as well as a family of six small children to mourn her untimely demise. She was naturally a strong, robust woman and since the death of her husband Richard James who passed away December 20, 1898 she has had the full management of the farm and was energetic and industrious in the extreme. The tenderest sympathy of the entire community goes out to the children who are thus thrown upon the world without the guidance of a father or mother. Oweing to the contagious nature of Mrs. James illness no funeral services were held but the remains were conveyed from the home and met by a funeral cortege and interred in evergreen cemetery.
