Mrs. Sophia Fortner, 75, resident on a farm in Pembroke township [Kankakee, Ill] died at 12:05 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Elsie Baker , at Lawrence, KS She had been ill three weeks.
The body will be taken to Momence where services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Canady funeral home, with the Rev. L. O. Walper of the Momence Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in Momence cemetery.
Born Oct 14, 1870 in Jackson county, Ia., the decease was married in 1896 to Percy Fortner, who died in February, 1935. They came to Pembroke twp in 1924.
Surviving in addition to the daughter, with whom she has been with since last August, are a son Donald at home, four grandchildren and a brother Fred Eckelberf of Maquoketa. Two sisters and a brother preceeded her in death.
