Buried Monday

Services for Charles Larnhart Yappen ,78, who passed away at 7:30 p.m. Friday in his home, were held Monday, Sept 7 at 1:30p.m. from the Allen funeral home and 2 p.m. in Calvary Lutheran church. Rev. Ph. Mueller officiated with burial in the Miles cemetery.

Mr. Yappen , who had been in ill health for some time, was born July 3 ,1875, near Green Island, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs Cornelius Yappen, Here he was educated and grew to manhood. On Sept 6. 1899, he married Apama Blacksten, who passed away Feb 25, 1915. On Aug 27, 1917, he was married to Julia Ingwersen, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Hobart of Sabula and Clifton of Maquoketa; three daughters Ellen Mangler, Sabula, Mrs.Christine Daehler and Mrs. Edna Tracy , both of Maquoketa; 20 grandchildren ;14 great-grandchildren and one sister ,Mrs Mary Kyarsgaard, , Preston. He was preceded in death by a daughter Alice , a brother John, and a sister Carolyn (James)
