Funeral sevices for C. Hobart Yappen, 81 , 416 S,Prospect, Maquoketa, who died Monday , May 31, in Jackson Conty Public Hospital, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday from Calvary Lutheran Church in Sabula. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home in Preston.
C. Hobart Yappen was born June 13, 1900 near Miles to Charles and Apama Blacksten Yappen. He married Myrel Drury February 20, 1924. They farmed near Sabula unti her death in 1977. He had been a resident of Maquoketa since 1978. Mr. Yappen was a 20 year agent for the Preston Mutual Insurance Company and a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church, Sabula.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Ellen Mangler, Sabula; his step-mother ,Mrs Julia Yappen, Maquoketa, two half sisters, Mrs. Leonard (Enda) Tracy , Mrs. Henry(Christine) Daehler of Maquoketa, and a half brother, Clifton Yappen , Spraqueville, and several nieces and nephews.
