Funeral is Held.
Funeral services of the late Elmer Stephens was held Friday morning at 9 o'clock, the remains having arrived the night previous. He was aged 60 years and passed away in a Detroit, Michigan, hospital last Tuesday morning after being confined there the past year and a half. For forty-two years he held a position with the Western Union Telegraph company in Chicago and was actively engaged about the duties when stricken with paralysis. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Stephens, pioneer residents of this city, who have long passed on. He leaves two sisters, Mrs. John P. Gallagher of Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. Addie Darling of Vail, Iowa, and three sons, William, who is engaged in the mercantile business in Joplin, Mo., Joseph of Chicago, and Elmer of Detroit. The last two accompanied the remains to this city. Rev. Keister of the Methodist church officiated. Interment was made in the family lot in Mount Hope cemetery.
