Maquoketa, Iowa, May 20--Mrs. George Sackrider, one of the most prominent ladies in Maquoketa, passed away suddenly last night. She had just returned from Lanesville where she had been getting her summer cottage in order. She was taken ill at Lanesville Saturday but had apparently recovered and was able to return home. She ate her supper as usual and had gone upstairs to look over a magazine when the final summons came without any warning.

The announcement of her death came as a great shock to the community.

Maquoketa, Iowa, May 21--The community was shocked to learn of the sudden death of Mrs. Geo. Sackrider, who passed away at her home about 7:30 Wednesday evening. Mrs. Sackrider had returned Saturday from Lainsville, where she had been getting everything in readiness for their annual summer outing. She had complained of feeling badly for a couple of days but yet she was able to be up and around. Wednesday evening when the family assembled at the supper table, she took her place and ate quite heartily. After supper she went to her room and about 7 o'clock she was taken suddenly ill. Her condition became alarming and the services of Dr. F. V. Johnson were summoned. Before 7:30 o'clock she had passed away surrounded by her husband, son and his wife and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Sackrider, whose maiden name was Jennie Rarick, was born in New York State about 68 years ago. When a young girl she came with her parents to Iowa, locating in Jackson county near what is now known as Union Center. Here she grew to womanhood. She was married to George Sackrider close to fifty years ago. They would have celebrated their fiftieth anniversary in September had she lived. Since their marriage they have lived constantly on this farm where her days were ended.

Two children helped to make her life happy, the son, Clarence, who has always lived at the home farm, and one daughter, Mrs. Carrie Wilson of Delmar.

Mrs. Sackrider was a member of Rebekah lodge, Pythian Sisters and the Eastern Star.

Funeral services will be held from the home at twelve o'clock. Rev. McCullough of Delmar will officiate and the Rebekah lodge will have charge of the services at the grave. Interment will be made in the mausoleum at Mt. Hope cemetery.
