Preston, Ia., Oct. 23--John Haller, aged 74 years, died at his home at 6 o'clock Thursday morning after a lingering illness. He had been in poor health for nearly two years with a cancer on his face, but only confined to his bed for a few weeks. The deceased was born in Wurtenberg, Germany, in 1839, and came to America in 1863, locating at Savanna. In 1872 the deceased with his family located at Preston, Iowa, where he was engaged in the butcher business until the last few years.

He is survived by his wife and four children: Mrs. Christena Brown of Estherville, Iowa, Mrs. Otto Hendricks, of Preston, Mrs. Anna Burch of Olin, Ia., and John of Fulton, Ill. All were present to attend the funeral services, which were held Friday afternoon at the Lutheran church.. Rev. J. H. Moehl officiated, with interment in the Preston cemetery.
