Maquoketa, Ia., March 10--Richard Robert Biglow, an old resident of this city, passed away Tuesday evening at 7:15 o'clock following a several months' illness.

Mr. Biglow was born Oct. 20, 1843, in Canada, and came to Iowa when a young boy. His father, who was journeying across the plains to California in the year 1849, was massacred along with 16 other pioneers.

Mr. Biglow served during the Civil war, being a member of the Seventh Indiana volunteers, Company D.

On June 9th, 1866, he was united in marriage to Sara A. Liston, who survives. To them were born six children, George Henry of Merril, Wis.; Mrs. Ira J. Edwards of Capa, S.D.; Francis Beldon of Dubuque and Riley, at home. Barbara Ellen and Joseph William died in early childhood.

Sixteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the home on Matteson avenue. Rev. J. J. Kidder had charge of the services. Interment was made in the Pence cemetery.
