Harold S. Lubben (1936-2019)

Harold Seyfert Lubben, 82, of Maquoketa died on July 20, 2019. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M. on Thursday, July 25, 2019, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, July 26, 2019, at Faith Community Church in Maquoketa, with luncheon to follow. Cremation has taken place.

Harold was born in Lost Nation on August 17th, 1936 to Harry S. and Ruth (Seyfert) Lubben. He grew up in Lost Nation and Maquoketa, graduating from Maquoketa High School in
1954. Harold served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1957. He was stationed in Japan with an anti-aircraft artillery unit. After being honorably discharged, Harold worked in the
foundry at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa. He was united in marriage to Nadine Bowling at the Maquoketa United Methodist Church on July 5th, 1959. He later worked for the Iowa Highway
Commission as a surveyor, Jackson County bridge inspector, and served as the JacksonCounty Assessor for 24 years, retiring in 1997. He was a 1972 graduate of Clinton Community
College with an Associate's Degree in Mechanical Drafting.

Harold was involved in the Jackson County Historical Society, and was heavily involved in building an antique railroad car with other members of the society. He was a member of the
Maquoketa Volunteer Fire Department for 44 years, serving as training officer, deputy chief and chief from 1992 to 1997. He was the Leo Clasen Memorial Award winner in 2002. Harold was a
fan of Iowa Hawkeye football and the Chicago Cubs. He was an avid reader, especially of railroad books and helped with the Maquoketa Library book sale. Harold very much enjoyed
attending his grandchildren's athletic and musical events, golfing, and playing cards with his friends on Thursday afternoons. He was a member of Faith Community Church and developed
many friendships through the congregation.

Mr. Lubben is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nadine, of Maquoketa and two sons, Luke (April) Lubben of DeWitt, and Mike (Christy) Lubben of Wheaton, IL, a sister, Lola Cain (Darrell) of
Elwood, a brother in law, John Schumann of Tulsa, OK, 10 grandchildren, Ben Lubben of Denver, CO, Allison Lubben of Davenport, Chris Lubben of Denver, CO, Erin (Ron) Dominguez
of DeWitt, Joseph (Rachel) Lubben of Chicago, Mike (Karol) Lubben, Thomas (Shana Terra) Lubben, and Joshua (Katy) Lubben all of West Palm Beach, FL, Issac Lubben and Levi Lubben
of Wheaton, IL. and one great grandson, Lazzarus. Also his special dog friend, Spike.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Harold S. Lubben memorial fund has been established.
