Maquoketa, Iowa, Oct. 16--Mr. Fred Lockwood, another of Maquoketa's highly respected citizens departed this life Sunday morning Oct. 15th, age 64 years.

He was born in Iowa Oct. 7, 1852. His father, Steven Lockwood and mother, Polly Wells were born in New York state and came to Iowa in an early day. He leaves a devoted wife and daughter, Mrs. F. A. Stine of Cody, Neb., to mourn his loss, the latter coming Sunday morning, but found her father in an unconscious condition. A private funeral will be held at the home at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning Oct. 18th, Mrs. Lizzie Marlow, first reader of the Christian church officiating. Those wishing to review the remains can call at the home Tuesday. Interment will be made in Union cemetery.
