Lloyd "Butch" Hingtgen 1946-2017

BELLEVUE, Iowa - Lloyd "Butch" Hingtgen, 70, of Bellevue, Iowa, passed away Monday morning, January 9, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

A Christian Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 14, at St. John Lutheran Church in St. Donatus. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation for Butch will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday evening at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue and again Saturday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.

Lloyd was born December 8, 1946, in Clinton, Iowa, son of Justin and Hazel (Millman) Hingtgen. He married Ruth Wiegert on November 25, 1966.

Butch grew up in LaMotte and from a very young age learned what it meant to work hard, he helped his father at the saw mill. His excellent work ethic was apparent through his 28-plus years with Jackson County Road Department, he retired as the Secondary Road Superintendent in 2012.

He will be remembered by his family as an excellent example of how to be honest, hardworking, selfless, loving and supportive. Butch's family meant the world to him, he never missed a moment to show he was proud of them and always there if needed.

Butch never shied away from conversation and never met a stranger. He had many hobbies, including deer hunting, working on engines, gardening and taking care of his yard. Butch also enjoyed spending time on the 4 "T" acres. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in LaMotte, and served as the treasurer for over 25 years.

Butch was one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 50 years, Ruth, of Bellevue; four children, Travis (Pam), of Eldridge, Troy (Kim), of Andrew, Terry (Heather), of Center Point, and Tammy (Paul) Christoffer, of Dyersville; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; mother, Hazel Lemer, of Bellevue; eight siblings, Leland (Joan) Hingtgen, Sharon (Gene) Konrardy, Donald Lemer, Diane (Steve) Dougherty, Jay (Linda) Hingtgen, Cathy (Terry) Dickerson, Bobby (Mary) Hingtgen, Jeanne (Phil) Larson; and his dog, Winston .

Butch is preceded in death by his father; brother, Eldon Lemer; and sister, Linda Sieverding.
