Mrs. Catherine Lynch

Mrs. Catherine Lynch, pioneer resident of Jackson and wellknown in Cascade, died at St. Anthony’s home in Dubuque, Thursday.

Mrs. Lynch was born in Bernard in 1852 and was married in 1870 in St. Patrick’s church at Garry Owen to Edward Lynch, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by three sons, John of Emmetsburg; Eugene, Rapids City, S.D.; Richard, of Bernard, Ia.; three daughters, Mrs. F. C. Jones, of Los Angeles; Mrs. Neal Crowley, of Chicago; Miss Elizabeth Lynch, of Presho, S.D.; and one sister, Mrs. Mary O’Connor, of Des Moines.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s church in Garry Owen, the Rosary society of that parish and in her last hour was comforted by the last rites of the Catholic religion.

The funeral was held Saturday morning from the Bennett-Ashworth funeral home to St. Patrick’s church at Garryowen at 9:30 where a solemn high Mass was read. Rev. Mulcahy was the celebrant; Rev. Leen, deacon, and Rev. Connell, sub-deacon. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Leen preached the funeral sermon at the church. The pallbearers were John O’Connor, John Sullivan, Con Sullivan, J. Kenneally, Ed. Kenneally and Neal Kenneally.

Rev. Mulcahy, Leen and Connell officiated at the graveside.

Out-of-town people who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph O’Connor, of Clinton, Iowa; Mrs. Mary O’Connor of Des Moines, and Mrs. Stella O’Donnell, of Chicago.
