Services for Mrs. Michael L. (Mae E.) Carr, 88, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of 1783 Avalon Road and Bernard, Iowa, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Garryowen, Iowa. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish wake service at 5 p.m.

Mrs. Carr was born Mary Elizabeth "Mae" English on May 25, 1907, in Bernard, daughter of Dominic and Hannah (Reddin) English. She died at 6:10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 1995, at Stonehill.

She married Michael L. "Mick" Carr on Jan. 19, 1926, in Dubuque; he died on Feb. 6, 1981.

She was a 1925 graduate of the former Visitation Academy in Dubuque. She was a former and active member of St. Patrick's parish, Garryowen, and its rosary society, and was a member of St. Anthony's parish. She enjoyed playing cards and was a devoted wife and mother who really enjoyed her family. She was lovingly cared for by her family with the help of Stonehill Care Center and Hospice staff.

Surviving are three daughters, Shirley (Delbert) McCullough, Mona (John "Doc") Hanley and Barbara (David) Setter, all of Dubuque; four sons, Ronald D. (JoAnn) Carr, of Atlanta, Ga., Robert M. (Rosie) Carr, Chuck F. (Eileen) Carr and James K. "Skip" (Judi) Carr, all of Dubuque; 24 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Dominic (Lou Mae) English, of Bernard; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael, in 1931; and a brother, Clem English, in February 1995.

Memorials may be given to Stonehill Care Center and Hospice of Dubuque County.
