GARRYOWEN, Iowa - Lois Marie (Burke) Scarff, 79, of Olathe, Kan., formerly of Garryowen, rural Bernard, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at Royal Terrace Nursing Facility, Olathe.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Garryowen, with the Rev. Thomas Bisenius officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. The Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., Dubuque, is in charge of arrangements.

Lois was a business owner for more than 25 years, owning D's Place and the Rusty Nail.

She was born on Nov. 9, 1925, in Bernard, daughter of Earl and Madeline (McDonnell) Burke. She moved to Junction City, Kan., in the late 1950s.

She was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.

Surviving are two sons, Dennis Scarff, of Overland Park, Kan., and Michael Scarff, of Protem, Mo.; two brothers, Larry Burke and Dale Burke; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
