Mary Claire Noonan, 68, of Bernard died at 9:10 am Wednesday May 18, 1994 at the home of her daughter, Kathy Simon, 1847 Vizaleea Drive, Dubuque.

Services will be at 10 am Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fillmore, with burial in St Patrick's cemetery Garryowen. Friends may call from 3 to 9 pm today at Gene Siegert & Son Westview Funeral Home 2659 Kennedy Road, Dubuque, where there will be a St Patrick's Catholic Church parish wake service at 7 pm.

Mrs Noonan taught elementary schools in Jackson and Dubuque counties from 1943 until her retirement in 1985. In her early teaching, she taught in Butler Twp and Garryowen. She later taught at Nativity and Sacred Heart Schools in Dubuque, prior to retirement in Bernard and Cascade.

She was born on Sept 6, 1925, at Jackson County, daughter of John and Theresa (Noonan) Redmond. She married William R Noonan on Nov 7, 1945 at St Patrick's Catholic Church, Garryowen.

She graduated from the University of Dubuque. She was a member of St Patrick's parish at Garryowen and the National Education Association.

Surviving are her husband, William R Noonan; two daughers Kathy Simon, of Dubuque, and Sheryl (and Mark) Christenson, of Madison, Wisconsin; a granddaughter, Christine Simon; four sisters Janaan Redmond, Mrs Bill (Grace) Delaney, Kay Fox, and Mary Redmond all of Dubuque; and a brother Allen Redmond of Marion.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Laurie Ann, on July 4, 1987.

A Mary Claire Noonan Memorial Fund has been established. Memorials may also be given to Hospice of Dubuque County or for Masses.
