James C. Melloy, 72, Resident of Bernard, Called to Reward

James Charles Melloy, 72, died at his Bernard residence Saturday, February 15, 1958 at 10:30 p.m., following an extended illness.

A son of the late James and Catherine (Cannon) Melloy, he was born July 19, 1885 at Bernard. He spent his entire life in that community.

Married to Elisabeth Noonan in St. Patrick's church, North Garryowen, on November 25, 1919, they engaged in farming and continued in that pursuit until their retirement in 1950 when they moved to Bernard.

Three, sons were born to Mr. and Mrs. Melloy, all of whom, together with his wife, survive. They are John, of Bernard; Ed, of Dubuque, Robert, of Bernard. Other survivors are 3 sisters. Miss Mary Ellen Melloy, Dubuque: Mrs. Joe (Catherine) Cox, Bernard; Mrs. William (Loretta) Clark, of Dubuque. There are also 13 grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister.

Funeral services were held from the Devaney Funeral Home Tuesday morning at 9:30 to St. Patrick's church. North Garryowen. The pastor, Rev. James Cassidy, celebrated the Requiem High Mass and gave the sermon. He also said the prayers at the graveside in the parish cemetery. Pressent in the sanctuary was Rev. Joseph Kirk of Fillmore.

Pallbearers were Fred Takes[?], Ed Grace, Francis Urbain, Jerry Ryle, Ray Recker, Cornelius Koch, Charles O'Brien, William Dunne.
