BERNARD, Iowa - Brett J. Jedlicka, 17-year-old son of Joseph and Candace Jedlicka, of 24157 20th Ave., rural Bernard, died Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Garryowen, rural Bernard, with the Rev. Phillip Gibbs officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Garryowen. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m.

He was born on Feb. 22, 1988, in Dubuque, son of Joseph and Candace (Anderson) Jedlicka.

He was a senior at the Cascade (Iowa) High School, where he participated in wrestling and Future Farmers of America.

Brett worked at Thunder Hills Golf Course in Peosta.

He loved hunting and fishing with a number of good friends and especially with his brother, Justin.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Parish, Garryowen.

Surviving are his parents, Joseph and Candace Jedlicka, of Bernard; a brother, Justin Jedlicka, of Iowa State, Ames; his paternal grandparents, Paul and Phyllis Jedlicka, of Iowa City; and aunts and uncles, Terry (Roger) Litscher, of Dubuque, Doug Jedlicka, of Iowa City, Tim (Mary) Anderson, of Monticello, and Chrys (Danny) Morgan, of Brighton, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jim and Betty Anderson.

A Brett J. Jedlicka Memorial Fund has been established.
