Death of Daniel Ahern

Death claimed an old and respected citizen of Otter Creek township, Jackson county, when Daniel Ahem, died at the family homestead, six miles southeast of St. Patrick's church, Garry Owen, at noon Saturday, November 21st. His death was sudden and apparently due to the rupture of a blood vessel in the head which caused strangulation.

Mr. Ahern was born in Otter Creek township in 1849 and was there for in his 76th year. His parents were among the first settlers in Jackson county.

The deceased is survived by his wife, and, three sons, Jerry, Patrick and Dennis, all residents of the township.

The funeral was held at St. Patrick's church at 9:45 Monday morning, November 23. Requiem Mass was celebrated by Rev. D. P. Mulcahy, pastor, and the sermon was delivered by Father Wise, a missionary priest.

The pallbearers were Neal Donovan, Vincent Donovan, and David Crowley, of Garry Owen, and Matt Crowley, Thomas Britt and Joseph Britt, of Lemars, Iowa.
