Anton Guerdt, who was 73 who was born and lived his entire life on a farm near St. Theresa’s, died this day afternoon at 4:30 o’clock at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Aurora, Ill.
Mr. Guerdt was born in Jackson County Aug 6. 1859. He was married January 18, 1886, to Anna Mueller who preceded him in death, as did two of their sons. One son Dennis, who lives at home, and four daughters, Mrs. Joseph Kremer, St. Donatus; Mrs. William Powers, Vernon township; Sister Mary Carmelita , a Sister of Mercy in Aurora, Ill.; and Mrs. Clarence Kies, of Zwingle, Ia. survive him. Six grandchildren and a brother, Stephen Guerdt, of Cruxton, Minn., also mourn his loss.
Mr. Guerdt was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and of St. Theresa’s parish. He belonged to the Holy Rosary Court of the Catholic order of Foresters, LaMotte. The funeral will be held Monday morning at 9 o’clock from his former residence to St. Theresa’s Church. Burial will be made in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
