Last Rites For LeRoy Wise
12 June 1890 to 12 January 1955

Leroy Wise, 64, of Central City, Iowa, died suddenly at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12th at his home. Funeral services were held in the Methodist church at 1:30 p.m. Friday, burial was in the Central City cemetery.

Leroy Wise, eldest son of James B. and Margaret E. Simpson Wise, was born in Savanna, Ill., June 12, 1890. He grew to manhood on a farm northwest of Sabula. He was married to Gertrude Lund of Sabula December 16, 1914 in Clinton. After farming in this vicinity a few years they moved to Belden, Nebraska, later returning to Central City where he farmed the last 26 years.

To this union were born nine children, eight of whom survive: James of Central City; Mrs. Henry (Elsie) Folken, Waterloo; Leroy, Jr., Marion; Mrs. Elmer (Laurena) Stutt, Central City; Mrs. Albert (Betty) Oltmanns, Anamosa; Mrs. Emil (Gertrude) Oltmanns, Anamosa; Mrs. Howard (Barbara) Burnside, Central City; and Marion at home. Also fifteen grandchildren; three brothers, Ira, Robert and William, Sabula, one sister Mrs. Henry (Margie) Block, Clinton; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his son William in Oct. 1951; his parents, two sisters, and one brother in infancy.
