Miss Edna Wise Dies Suddenly of Heart Trouble
Eldest Daughter of J. B. Wise Drops Dead Sunday Afternoon at Home Northwest of Sabula.
Funeral Held Yesterday.
22 June 1896 to 8 October 1922

The home of Jas. B. Wise, about six miles northwest of Sabula, was cast into sadness most suddenly about four o’clock Sunday afternoon while the family was gathered together visiting with the son, Roy, who had just arrived from Coleridge, Neb., with his family for a visit. The oldest daughter, Miss Edna, was in the act of washing her hands when she was suddenly stricken with heart failure and died before anyone could reach her side. All efforts to revive her were vain as death had come instantly. While the young lady had been in poor health for years she was apparently just as well as usual up to the time of the sudden heart attack.

Miss Edna was the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. B. Wise and was born in the home where her death occurred on June 22, 1895, being 27 years, three months and sixteen days old when her passing took place. All her life has been spent in the home in the happy company of her brothers and sisters. Her mother passed away about five years ago and besides the heartbroken father she leaves to mourn her untimely death four brothers: Roy of Coleridge, Neb.; Ira, Robert, and Will, of near this city; and two sisters, Mrs. Glenn Russell, of Preston, and Miss Margery, at home. She also had countless friends who loved her for her many good qualities and who are deeply grieved at her early departure from among them.

Funeral services were held at the home yesterday afternoon at two o’clock. In the absence of the local pastor the services were conducted by Rev. Clemo, of the Preston Methodist church. Hymns were sung by Mrs. A. E. McDole and Mrs. F. E. Bryant, of this city, with Mrs. W. K. Hodgson as accompanist. Interment was made beside the departed mother in Evergreen cemetery and a very large number of old friends were in attendance to pay their last respects to the deceased and extend their sympathy to the bereaved family.
