Miles F. Thimmesch, 23, of 438 Hill St., formerly of Los Angeles, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at home in Dubuque.

Committal prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at the St. Donatus Church, St. Donatus, Iowa. Burial will be in the St. Donatus Cemetery, St. Donatus. The Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., is in charge of arrangements.

He was born on June 13, 1986, in Los Angeles, son of John McGeogh and Elizabeth Thimmesch

Miles was a unique and creative young man. He grew up in Los Angeles and earned an associates degree in science from Valley College. He was to complete his computer science studies at Cal State Northridge.

Miles was a video game programmer and was known in the gaming community as "Danistar." He had an interest in anything Japanese and could read and write Japanese. He had a soft spot in his heart for all animals, especially his beloved cat, Kitty.

Surviving are his mother, Elizabeth Thimmesch, whose family has longtime ties to Dubuque, where her father, the late journalist, Nick Thimmesch, was born and raised. He also is survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins of his maternal grandmother's family, the Plum family, of Iowa; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins of the Thimmesch family; and his many friends in California.
