O. E. Ellithorpe, 85, Pioneer Resident, Is Summoned By Death

O. E. Ellithorpe, a pioneer resident of this community, died at 10:30 o'clock Thursday morning at his home on South Olive street, having been ill since July 23rd. Mr. Ellithorpe, who was the last member of his immediate family, would have been 86 years of age had he lived until Christmas.

He was married to Miss Addie Nims of this city on March 25, 1872 by the Rev. R. W. Miner. For many years they have resided in Maquoketa and on March 25 of the present year observed their sixtieth wedding anniversary.

He is survived by his aged wife and four children, Art of Deer Lodge, Montana, Bernice Alden and Roy of Ekalaka, Montana and Leonard, at home. Mr. Ellithorpe had been a member of the Masonic lodge for more than 58 years and attended meetings regularly when health permitted. The Helion lodge No. 35 will have charge of the committal service. Funeral arrangements are incomplete pending word from the children.
