DR. HUGH N. WHYTE OF BERNARD DIES HERE

Dr. Hugh N. Whyte, 71, of Bernard, died in Maquoketa at 4:30 o'clock Wednesday at a private hospital in Maquoketa where he had been receiving treatments for some time. His health had been failing for the past two years, with a rapid decline evident the past few weeks.

Dr. Whyte was born Oct. 6, 1860 at Toronto, Canada, where he grew to manhood. After his graduation from high school, Dr. Whyte enrolled in the Ontario Veterinary college, graduating in 1888. Soon after he came to Iowa, and for many years practiced at Maquoketa and Lost Nation, later moving to Bernard, where he continued his profession.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Matt Snoddy, of this city. The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at the Harrison funeral home and interment will be made at the Union cemetery sound of this city.
