ANOTHER PIONEER GONE
In the passing of Charity L. Nims, Maquoketa again is called upon to suffer the loss of one of her good pioneer citizens. While Mrs. Nims has not been bedfast, her immediate family have realized for some time that she has been suffering with an incurable disease. She was patient throughout her illness bearing the pain and suffering so bravely. The greater part of her life was spent in this vicinity where she enjoyed the friendship of hosts of people.
Charity L. Jaynes, daughter of Daniel and Margaret J. Jaynes, was born May 28, 1860 at Springbrook and was married January 16, 1895 to J. N. Nims at the home of her mother in Maquoketa and died at her home September 29, 1915. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, three sisters, Mrs. James Anderson of Sabula, Mrs. Louis Dindinger of Rock Island, Illinois and Lizzie Jaynes of Maquoketa and one brother, Charles Jaynes, living east of Maquoketa.
The funeral was held at the home on East Pleasant street on Friday at 2 p.m., Rev. I. A. Bartholomew preaching the sermon. Mrs. Nims final resting place was at Mt. Hope cemetery.
