DR. J. C. DENNISON, 89, LONG-TIME PHYSICIAN, DIES
One of Iowa's Oldest Medical DoctorsBellevue, Sept. 26
Dr. J. C. Dennison, who at 89 was one of the oldest medical doctors in Iowa, died Wednesday in Bellevue. He had been ill for about a week. Dr. Dennison. who practiced medicine in Bellevue for more than 50 years, was unusually active for his advanced years. A charter member of the Bellevue American Legion post, the doctor was thought to be the oldest active legionnaire in the state.
Funeral services for the 89 year old doctor were held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Bellevue Presbyterian church. The Rev. Laurence Nelson, pastor, officiated and interment was made in the Presbyterian cemetery.
Born July 10, 1866, in Alden, New York, Dr. Dennison came to Bellevue in 1892. He was graduated from the State University of Iowa and did postgraduate work there also. He was a member of several medical societies. The doctor was a member of the Bellevue Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years and was affiliated with the local Presbyterian church. He is survived by two sons, John and Dr. Walter Dennison of Davenport and a daughter, Mrs. Q. O. Quigley of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
