BASIL TRACY RITES HELD MONDAY

Basil Tracy, 79, died at 2 a.m. Friday in his home in Maquoketa. He was a retired farmer. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Carson funeral home. Elder Glenn H. Sherman, pastor of the Fulton Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, officiated. Burial was made in the East Iron Hill cemetery.

Mr. Tracy was born December 11, 1875 at Crabbtown in Brandon Township, a son of the late Elijah and Ann Metheny Tracy. On January 1, 1907 he was married to Nettie Clark. Surviving are six sons, Vincent and Duane of Maquoketa, Thelman and Clifford of Baldwin, Edward of Dayton, Ohio, and Denzil in the service in Florida, one daughter, Mrs. Ione Hayward of Maquoketa and seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. One son, Kermit, a brother and four sisters preceded him in death. A step-son, Vincent Batey, survives.
