MRS. S. J. TUBBS DIES MONDAY

The news of the death of Mrs. S. J. Tubbs who passed away at her home on South Olive street early Monday morning came as a shock to her many friends in Maquoketa and vicinity, few of whom knew she had been seriously ill. Although she had not been in the best of health for the past two years, her condition did not become alarming until a few days ago.

Anne E. Grant, daughter of William C. and Mary Chandler Grant, was born at Bridgeport in 1853 and had always lived in Maquoketa and vicinity. On February 1, 1881, she was married to Sidney J. Tubbs and they lived on a farm north of Maquoketa until 1908, when they moved to Maquoketa. She is survived by her husband and one son Archie, also three grandsons, Robert, S. J. and Dale Tubbs.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Methodist church, Rev. F. C. Worcester officiating.
