Death Summons Mrs. A. Morehead

Mrs. Atwood Morehead, a lifelong resident of Jackson county, passed away Friday evening, July 25th, death following a severe heart attack. For the past two years she had suffered from heart trouble and Friday morning suffered an attack similar to that which caused her death. The news of her death came as a shock to her family and many friends, who had believed her condition to be improving.

Lucy Lovina Clark, daughter of Andrew and Mary Clark was born in Jackson county, Iowa, March 20, 1860, and passed away July 25th, 1930 at the age of 70 years, 4 months and 5 days. She was united in marriage to Atwood Morehead, Sept. 2, 1877 and to this union was born eight children, two sons and six daughters, namely, Wylie and Clarence of this city; Mrs. Cora Miller and Mrs. Nellie Roush of Esgate; Mrs. Ruth Hute of Iron Hill; Mrs. Ada Kehn of Delmar and Mrs Thelma Beck of Davenport; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Fuller, preceded her in death March 11, 1930.

Besides the sorrowing husband and children there are twenty-four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one brother, Eli Clark, one sister, Sadie Harden and a host of relatives and friends who mourn the loss of an affectionate wife, loving mother and a faithful friend. With the exception of two years in Shelby county, the deceased spent her entire life in Jackson county, where she was well known to all as a person with a cheerful and patient disposition, one who always was ready to help carry the burden of others. Mrs. Morehead was devoted to her home and the homes of her children, loved her friends devotedly and was noted for her kindness in the community where she lived. She united with the Free Methodist church in early life and remained a faithful member to the end.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the East Iron Hill church with Rev. C. O. Monroe officiating. Interment was made in the East Iron Hill cemetery.
