BELLEVUE HERALD: Theodore Fischer one of the prosperous farmers of Tete des Morts township was found dead in his bed last Friday morning, having retired the evening previous in his usual good health. He was a native of Prussia where he was born January 1, 1821. In 1841 he came to St. Louis and in 1850 to Jackson County. He fought for his adopted country in the Mexican War and again bore arms for the union in the late war; enlisting in Company K, Iowa Infantry and serving faithfully in both. The funeral occurred Sunday at the St. Donatus Catholic Church, Rev. Father Rottler officiating. A large family of children are left to mourn the death of a kind parent.
