OXFORD JUNCTION PHYSICIAN DIES
Dr. William Breen, 56 years of age, died at the state university hospital in Iowa City Monday July 24, from complications following a appendectomy performed about two weeks ago. Until the attack of appendicitis he had been in good health.
Dr. Breen was born October 20, 1882, in Monticello, Iowa. After graduating from high school there he took up the study of medicine, earning his degree at the state university in 1907. For one year he practiced in South Dakota, then one year was spent in northern Iowa, after which he located at Oxford Junction where he practiced for the past thirty years.
Dr. Breen was united in marriage to Sarah Kane, of Maquoketa, on December 2, 1922, in a ceremony at Cedar Rapids. Prior to the marriage, Mrs. Breen had been a public health at Cedar Rapids. Their entire married life was spent in Oxford Junction. Two sons were born to them, both dying in infancy.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sisters and two brothers, all of Monticello: Mrs. Len Reichert, Mary and Kate, Mike and John Breen.
Funeral services were held yesterday morning at 9:30 o'clock from the Sacred Heart Church, the Rev. Joseph Gregor officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.
