Ara R. Keeley
Ara Robert Keeley, 82, former Maquoketan, died Saturday in a Des Moines hospital after an extended illness. Services were held Monday in Brooklyn, Iowa with burial there.
Born in Jackson County May 15, 1869, he was married in Maquoketa March 13, 1895 to Emma Kelchner, who died eight years later. To them were born two children who survive, Harold D. Keeley of Maquoketa, and Mrs. Myrtle Lawyer of Iowa City. He was married Nov 21, 1906 to Edna Hayward of Maquoketa, and three children of this marriage also survive, Clarence of Webster City, Ronald of Cross Lake, Minn. And Joyce of Des Moines. A well-driller, he moved from Maquoketa to Brooklyn in 1911, and resided there until after the death of his second wife. Since then he has resided with his son in Webster City and daughter in Des Moines.
In addition to five children, he is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Sybil Romer, Mrs. Iona Wilson and Mrs. Myra Glaser, all of Maquoketa, and five grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Keeley attended the funeral.
