Final Rites Held for Mrs. Bowman
Maquoketa – Funeral services for Mrs. Ara J. Bowman, 69, who died suddenly Friday evening were held Monday afternoon in the Buchner Chapel. The Rev Harry d. Green of the Methodist Church officiated. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
The former Bertha M. Keeley was born in Maquoketa Nov 9, 1876, the daughter of Francis and Charity Tubbs Keeley. On Sept. 7, 1893, she was married to Ara J. Bowman. Her entire life had been spent in Maquoketa. She was a charter member of Circle 105, Ladies of the G.A.R
Surviving are her husband, nine children, 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. The children are: Earl, Francis, Mrs. Marjorie Riggs, Mrs. Blanche Wendel, Miss Eva Bowman and Arthur Bowman all of Maquoketa; Mrs. Florence Wosoba, Clinton; Mrs. EthelynHoershelman, Esgate and Mrs. Eleanor Berryhill, Iowa City. Also surviving are one brother, Ara Keeley of Brookly, IA and three sisters, Mrs. Myra Glaser, Mrs. Ione Wilson and Mrs. Sybil Romer, all of Maquoketa. A son, Gale, and a brother Seneca Keeley, preceded her in death.
