Henry Ernst Passes Away
Well-Known Resident Passed Away After Long Period of Illness - Laid to Rest Wednesday
Death claimed another one of Bellevue's highly respected citizens Sunday when Henry Ernst passed away at two o'clock at Moniton hospital after a long illness. Mr. Ernst suffered a stroke of paralysis a number of years ago which permanently affected his left side and on January 24 of this year contracted the flu from which he never recovered.
Mr. Ernst was a son of Henry and Rachel Ernst and was born on a farm in Bellevue township Sept. 6, 1887. He grew to young manhood in this vicinity, leaving here to spend some time farming in Kossuth county. He returned to Bellevue about forty years ago and has since made this his home. On Jan. 31, 1929, he was united in marriage with Miss Anna Millman, who survives him. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. N. C. Weis of Bellevue and Mrs. Lee Martin of Ladysmith, Wis., one brother John Ernst of Cedar Rapids, six nieces and four nephews.
Mr. Ernst was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran church and served as a member of the city council for a number of years. He was always interested in the welfare of his home town and was honest and upright in all his dealings with his fellowmen.
The last rites were held Wednesday afternoon at St. John's Lutheran church at three o'clock, conducted by his pastor, Rev. Sig. H. Sandrock and he was laid to rest in the Lutheran cemetery. The pallbearers were E. W. Fuller, Harold Goetz, J. P. Oberleitner, Peter Hoffman, Henry Oberman and Sim Tebben.

Friedman, Dubuque; Mrs. Sarah Risinger, Spragueville; Mrs. Lincoln Joergensen and son, Delmar; Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Martin, LeMoille; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gleason, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mohlenhoff, Jay McMurray, Miss Elizabeth Tebben, Mrs. Cecil March, Mrs. Edith Tebben, Mrs. Jennie Linehan, Mrs. Emma Schenk, Mr. and Mrs. Ablert Siegel, Mrs. Dora Siegel, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Schreiber, Mr. and Mrs. Geo.. Tebben, Andrew.
