HANGED HIMSELF.
Sam Ernst Became Despondent and Took His Own Life.
Brief mention of the death of Sam Ernst, near Bancroft, was made in last week's issue of the LEADER, the particulars not then being at hand. It since develops that Ernst committed suicide by hanging himself. On the morning of May 10, he arose and left the house long before daylight, but his brother Henry, with whom he was sleeping, thought nothing of it. Later, when Henry got up and started to do the chores, he found his brother hanging from the studding in the granary dead. Sam was a sober, honest and industrious fellow 26 years of age, and there is no reason apparent for the rash act, though it is hinted by Bancroft papers that a disappointment in a love affair had something to do with it.
The remains arrived in Bellevue Friday morning accompanied by this brother Henry, and the funeral took place that afternoon from the Lutheran church. Interment was in the Lutheran cemetery.
