Mrs. Catherine Ernst died at her home in this city last Saturday, after a short illness with bronchitis, aged 74 years. She was a long time resident of Jackson county and one of its most prominent citizens. She was twice married and leaves a son and daughter, John Burcheding and Miss Anna C. Ernst to mourn her death. The funeral occurred Tuesday form the Lutheran church, Reverend Lenz officiating. There was a very large attendance. (Bellevue Leader - 9 Feb 1899 - Thursday)
